FIT FOR MY FUTURE

NHS Somerset and Somerset County Council are running a series of local meetings to get everyone's views about how health and care are going to be managed in the future - there's one at the Hub, Hopcott Road on Monday 26 November between 1.30pm and 5.30pm: please come along to learn and/or be heard.

Evening and Saturday appointments

To help improve access to our services Practices across West Somerset work together on a rota basis to provide evening and Saturday morning appointments for our shared patient lists. We regularly provide evening appointments on a Tuesday evening but if one of these appointments does not suit your needs then please speak with a member of our team so that we can help you arrange to be seen at one of the other practices in West Somerset on an evening that we do not provide appointments or on a Saturday morning.

Carers

Content Supplied by NHS Choices

Are You a Carer?

If you are please let us know - we may be able to help you

Our Carers champions in both practices are Gaynor and Madeleine. Either would be pleased to speak to you to find out how we can help. We are hoping to run some carer support sessions in the surgery- please let a receptionist know if you would like to be informed.

We are running our first carers support group on Wednesday 12th December 10.30-2 at Dunster Surgery. Please contact us for more information.

There is a wealth of information on NHS Choices about carers and caring. Below are some links into the site that we hope you will find useful.

  • Caring for a parent

Watch this video on: caring for a parent at home

  • Telling people

Caring responsibilities can make it difficult to maintain friendships or develop new ones. Telling your friends you're a carer is important so they understand and can support you.

  • Taking a break

Caring for someone can be a full-time job, but it's essential that you take time out for yourself too. Read our guide to accessing breaks and respite.

  • Housing and carers

Do you know your tenancy rights as a carer? Are you aware of all your care at home options? Do you need tips on moving someone around the home?
